Milestone highlights success and creates a digital ticketing experience for efficient travel

SAN DIEGO, Calif., March 2, 2015 – Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc., a business segment of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) and a leading integrator of payment and information technology and services for intelligent travel solutions, announced today its customer Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund GmbH (RMV), one of Europe’s largest transport associations, sold five million tickets through its Cubic-developed mobile ticketing app.

Managing director for RMV, Professor Knut Ringat said, “Five million mobile tickets are proof of the app’s success and the service it provides. From downloading the app on an iPhone or Android smart phone to buying a ticket and starting your trip, the entire process is easy to use and efficient. We are very pleased with the customer conversion to this sales channel.”

More than 1.7 million mobile tickets were sold in 2014, reflecting a 30 percent growth in sales over 2013, and the numbers continue to rise.

“The RMV mobile ticket is designed to enable an easy and fast way to buy a transit ticket. With a few clicks you can buy a ticket whether you are on the train platform or on your way to the bus stop. Customers no longer have to deal with long waiting times and searching for change. Frequent journeys can be stored in the app as favorites, further speeding up ticketing,” said Ringat.

Stefan Jacobs, managing director of Cubic Transportation Systems Deutschland said, “Ticketing is moving in the direction of a complete digital experience. With its mobile ticket, the RMV is helping to lead the way.”

RMV offers unique features over other mobile solutions, including the number of payment options. Customers can choose to register for an RMV account online and link their mobile ticket payment to their bank card or mobile phone bill, or pay via “girogo,” the contactless smart card that does not require a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and signature, which is offered by Germany’s Sparkasse bank. Customers may also connect to the RMVsmiles bonus program and choose from a variety of discount vouchers that can be redeemed at participating merchants.
