Annual listing recognizes young professionals based on capacity for innovation, demonstrated leadership and a commitment to transit

SAN DIEGO – August 22, 2023Cubic Transportation Systems (Cubic), part of Cubic Corporation, today announced that Senior Strategy Manager Audrey Denis has been named to the 2023 Mass Transit Magazine 40 Under 40 List, honoring individuals for job commitment, industry involvement and contribution, achievement in his/her position and innovation in his/her field. Denis is recognized as a champion in transit for her passion for digital mobility and for creating opportunities for transit technology to modernize and improve rider experiences in cities around the world.

“In my role, I have a renewed focus on sustainability and reducing congestion in cities and suburbs, decreasing car usage and improving quality of life for people living in urban areas,” said Denis. “The last several years have created unprecedented, dynamic shifts in how people travel, and as part of the transit sector's efforts to transform to digital, we're looking at ways to manage the transit network from a holistic, multi-modal perspective and use data to deliver a better mobility experience for users.”

Cubic’s platform allows riders to acquire new digital closed-loop transit cards and use both virtual bank cards within mobile wallets and physical bank cards to travel without the need to purchase tickets through ticket kiosks or vending machines. This range of options offers enhanced flexibility and efficiency that reduces barriers to travel and provides all riders with access to equitable solutions.

A native New Yorker, Denis grew up riding the city’s subways with her family to her most frequent destinations — museums, theater shows, appointments and, eventually, her job. This early use of public transit instilled in Denis its value as the key enabler of independence and freedom, which sparked a career passion to connect others with transit.

“Probably the best thing about my job is the fact that I get to witness the tangible results and benefits of my work on transit systems as well as people and communities,” Denis said. “We aim to move riders where they need to go efficiently, but more than that, we want to make their commutes more accessible and enjoyable and improve the overall quality of their lives.”

Mass Transit Magazine presents its 40 Under 40 list each year as an opportunity to recognize outstanding young individuals making a name in the public transit industry. The publication recognizes 40 individuals for their contributions as part of its July/August edition. It is not a ranking but rather a listing of individuals who have shown a capacity for innovation, demonstrated leadership and a commitment to making an impact in transit.
