SAN DIEGO and SYDNEY - Feb. 16, 2023Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), a division of Cubic Corporation, today announced that the company’s VP of Business Development, Asia Pacific and Managing Director, Asia/New Zealand Simon McLevie has been elected to the Intelligent Transport Systems Australia (ITS Australia) board of directors.

Representing more than 100 member organizations across government, industry and academia, ITS Australia plays a critical role in promoting, debating and advancing opportunities for the adoption of intelligent transport solutions nationwide across all public and private modes.

“Cubic Transportation Systems is a long-standing and important part of the Australian ITS industry,” said Susan Harris, CEO of ITS Australia. “Today, the organization is a key player in advancing integrated and efficient mobility in Australia, helping to make transport networks smarter across our country.”

Responsible for the entire APAC region, McLevie has served as a senior executive at CTS for eight years. Notably, he has played a key leadership role in the expansion of the New South Wales (NSW) Opal system to include open payment technology. He has also been involved in the advancement of public transport in Queensland with the Smart Ticketing project, and most recently, he led the team in securing the National Ticketing Solution contract for New Zealand. His work with CTS has consistently demonstrated that the local team is positioned to deliver solutions that meet the needs of regional users and maintain customer trust.

McLevie’s clear understanding of the industry, current and future trends, and his close collaborations with transportation agencies in the region will make him a valuable addition to the board.

“Simon is a key part of all of Cubic’s activities here in Australia and is an influential leader in our industry,” Harris added. “I look forward to continuing to work with him as we strive to advance the opportunities for transport technology in Australia.”

Added McLevie: “With a majority of Australians spending over an hour a day using transport, the opportunity for intelligent transport systems to make a significant, meaningful impact on improving the lives of all Australians is clear. ITS Australia is a leading light in fostering partnerships and bringing together government and industry, delivering innovative solutions to improve the lives of Australians. I proudly represent our members on the Board of ITS Australia.”
