Cubic Transportation Systems president to discuss public transit’s role in the implementation of MaaS
SAN DIEGO – Nov. 29, 2018 – Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) today announced that its Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) business President and Cubic Corporation Senior Vice President, Matt Cole will discuss the need for public transit agencies to take a leadership role in the integration of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) at the Meeting of the Minds Annual Summit from November 27–29 in Sacramento, California. Meeting of the Minds Annual Summit brings together policy-makers and innovators from around the world for an event of intensive exchange in thought leadership and cross-sector alliance building.
Public transit agencies face pressures to adapt to an evolving mobility environment that consists of a wide range of transportation modes such as buses, rail, shuttles, autonomous vehicles, bikeshare, scooters, rideshare, car share and more. As a result, it is important for public agencies to take the lead in defining the MaaS strategy in the regions in which they operate. Cole will offer industry insight on cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Brisbane to explain how such cities are working closely with the private sector to implement MaaS across jurisdictions and multiple agencies.
Under its NextCity® strategy, Cubic advocates that public transit operators are best suited to lead the MaaS implementation by incorporating three platforms to create a MaaS system: an integrated customer experience across the transportation network; one account for integrated payment, policy and pricing; and operations and analytics that will inform the journeys of all travelers regardless of age, disability, or economic status.
“We are not far from a world in which transportation is more sustainable and people-centered than it is today,” said Cole. “Understanding what MaaS truly stands for is incredibly important for the future of our cities and communities. We must demystify what MaaS is, identify its key stakeholders and make the case for why it is crucial for public transit to be the backbone of MaaS and its implementation.”
Cole will participate at the following session at the annual summit:
- “Mobility-as-a-Service: Why Public Officials Need to Define Their Region’s Strategy”
Thursday, November 29, 11:00 a.m. (local time); Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel.
