Trisha Tunilla

#FREEtheMIBS Advisory Board Chair

In 2021, Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) joined the #FREEtheMIBS movement to create this rich interoperable experience and released its management information bases (MIBs) to the transportation industry to permit improved system integration. CTS was the third of six major controller manufacturers in the United States to join the campaign, garnering a massive milestone for #FREEtheMIBS, now representing nearly half of the US traffic controller install base.

Fast Forward to 2023

Cubic NEMA Controller

The #FREEtheMIBS campaign continues transforming the industry as forward-thinking private and public companies join its ranks to further the conversation. The latest to join the dialogue is the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) – responsible for initiating NTCIP standards, the first set of standards for the transportation industry to allow traffic control systems to be built using a “mix and match” approach.

Alongside NEMA, #FREEtheMIBS will be moderating an impactful panel discussion at the 2023 IMSA Forum and Expo on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, titled Vendors Unite for the Safety, Security & Interoperability of Signal Controllers. Shaun Alford, Product Manager, ITS, will represent Cubic’s ITS team live at the tradeshow and virtually later in July for a webinar of the same name.
