CHICAGO, Illinois - October 10, 2012 - United Cargo, one of the world’s largest belly carriers, announced today it will be accepting GS-5L, GS-5B and RSU-3 advanced tracking and monitoring devices made by Cubic Global Tracking Solutions, the asset visibility solutions provider for Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), for transport on its entire mainline jet fleet of more than 700 aircraft linking more than 370 worldwide destinations.
The devices bring shipment tracking and security to a new dimension: providing location, environmental sensing, virtual security-fencing and temperature monitoring to cargo shipments transported on United’s unparalleled network. “The Cubic suite of products is impressive and offers our customers additional options for leading edge shipment monitoring,” said Robbie Anderson, President United Cargo.
“The devices deliver enhanced visibility over several of our key products: UASecure high value, QuickPak and EXP express offerings as well as TempControl,” he added.
The devices are highly advanced wireless, personal electronic devices that include multiple sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure, shock, location and vibration. The devices contain patented intelligence and proprietary logic to automatically suppress the device’s wireless radios to an “off” mode -- ensuring safe and FAA-compliant operation during flight.
The United Engineering team reviewed the Cubic Global Tracking Solutions’ GS-5L, GS-5B and RSU-3 tracking and monitoring devices and found they comply with RTCA, Inc. (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) environmental conditions and test procedures for airborne equipment, clearing the way for the devices to be used in the cargo compartment of all United aircraft.
