Providing agile, resilient, expeditionary capabilities for the ever-changing threat environment

SAN DIEGO – September 6, 2023Cubic Defense, a recognized industry leader in providing air combat training systems, edge compute and networking, and digital intelligence, will showcase its innovative solutions during the 2023 Space & Cyber Conference, September 11-13, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

“Cubic’s advanced capabilities are designed to support the warfighters no matter the operation,” said Cubic Defense President Paul Shew. “Our portfolio delivers a readiness advantage that enables mission success at the edge, anywhere, at any time.”

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) training system delivery. Since 1973, Cubic continues to deliver “truth in training” across 30 ranges worldwide with over 2,300 P5 Combat Training Systems/Tactical Combat Training Systems in use globally with 17 coalition partners.

During the AFA Air, Space & Cyber Conference, Cubic leaders will learn more about the U.S. Air Force’s future priorities, while displaying the company’s solutions designed to elevate Air Force tactical and training capabilities.

Visit Cubic Defense at booth 1727 and speak with experts who will demonstrate solutions that include live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training offerings, edge computing and networking, and geospatial intelligence.

Demonstrations will include:

  • Simplified, Planning, Execution, Analysis, Reconstruction (SPEAR): A common data model and a DoD-approved tech stack that reduces cognitive burden through optimized displays and analytics of kinetic and non-kinetic data, with weapons effects, in multi-domain operations and LVC environments. SPEAR melds objective and subjective data to create a time synced mission log, in real-time and for after-action review.
  • Synthetic Inject-to-Live (SITL) LVC Training: SITL LVC brings the realism of the pacing peer fight to the cockpits of fourth- and fifth-generation platforms. The secure LVC advanced training environment injects synthetic entities from human-operated simulators (virtual) and computer-generated forces (constructive) into live cockpits: platforms, weapons and effects across the electromagnetic and infrared spectrums. Cubic's Mobile Advanced Tactical Training Encrypted Range System (MATTERS) kit will field initial elements in FY24 to enable forward stationing of a deployable SITL-LVC Training Range capability for Interoperable Coalition blended LVC training.
  • P5 System Security Update & P5 Internal Subsystem: The P5 System Security Update provides a field modification to existing P5 pods to provide encrypted ACMI to the USAF for <10% of the cost of alternatives. Cubic is on contract to provide this upgrade with fielding planned in 2024. P5 SSU pods are directly compatible with Cubic’s F-35 P5 internal subsystem providing untethered level II integration. Cubic has delivered over 1,000 F-35 P5 IS and remains the only Air Combat Training System option available. The fielding of P5 SSU in combination with P5 IS enables a new level of training integration between fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft, as well as protection of Air Force tactics, techniques and procedures at home station or abroad.
  • Cubic Digital Intelligence: HORUS 3U OpenVPX ruggedized compute features the Mission Orchestration Platform to manage containerized workloads on hardware aligned with Government Reference Architectures to deliver a Multi-Function/Multi-INT edge platform. HiPER DRIVEs bring the capabilities of an enterprise-class map server to the tactical edge, combining imagery, elevation and terrain data with an embedded web viewer to provide a disconnected capability that continuously adapts to mission needs. TAKTICS is a web-based tool for quickly finding, viewing, and downloading geospatial data to mobile devices and applications like the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) app. TAKTICS consolidates multiple data types – terrain models, maps, and 3D products – into a single interface for quickly exporting data to multiple exploitation tools.
  • DTECH: Edge compute and networking solutions that serve as the ideal secure edge computing zero trust architecture built for cloud and mobility. The rugged and scalable edge compute and networking platforms delivering enterprise-class and highly expeditionary edge capabilities. See how this integrated solution can support the U.S. Air Force in realizing its vision for a unified network secured and defended by a Zero Trust Architecture by 2027.
