NextBus program manager to discuss the role of big data in public transit

Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB), today announced Matt Riddick, program manager for NextBus, Cubic’s Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) business, will participate in a panel discussion on big data at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) 2017 Bus & Paratransit Conference at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada from May 7 – 10. Riddick and panelists will address ways for data to be used more effectively and efficiently in public transit. The APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference is a technical and educational conference covering topics including operations and maintenance, accessibility and paratransit, integrated mobility and transformative technology, safety and security.

“Not all agencies can supply 24/7 human support to engage with riders who are looking for more travel information and interaction,” said Riddick. “Digital technologies and channels can help bring these one-on-one interactions with passengers to the next level.”

Riddick will provide insight on different technological capabilities such as personalized information, virtual assistants for one-on-one customer interaction and location-aware entertainment at the following panel session:

  • Route 1: Data – Who’s Hungry for More Info?
Wednesday, May 10, 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. (local time); Crystal 3-4, Casino Level at the Grand Sierra Resort
Moderator: William Tsuei, director of IT, Access Services
Panel partners: Sarah Bayer, marketing specialist, Clever Devices Ltd.; Jason Palmer, chief operations officer, SmartDrive Systems, Inc.; Brent Pearse, community outreach supervisor, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority
