SAN DIEGO, Calif. – May 1, 2014 – Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) announced today that it was awarded a contract valued at nearly $3.4 million to provide Personnel Locator Systems (PLS) for the US military. This is a continuation of an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract with the customer. The PLS are used on several different Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) and Search and Rescue (SAR) platforms across the US military.
Cubic is providing upgraded PLS which feature improved voice and data transfer capabilities. These upgraded systems are smaller, lighter, and more powerful than their predecessors. Cubic’s system enables combat search-and-rescue crews to locate and extract downed pilots quickly and without detection by enemy forces. The system is primarily installed on rotary wing aircraft, but has evolved to include selected fixed wing aircraft that support today’s personnel recovery missions.
“The Cubic PLS is the standard combat search-and-rescue system used by US and NATO forces to pinpoint the location of downed pilots from the air. Cubic is fully committed to PLS and will continue to proactively innovate and advance performance and capability. We are very pleased with our continued selection as the trusted source for this life-saving technology,” said Dave Schmitz, president of Cubic Defense Systems.
