DAYTON, Ohio –November 5, 2012 – Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), has opened a new office in Beavercreek, Ohio, to pursue new training and tactical communications business at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Cubic recently received two-year contract to deliver expanded live training capabilities at the National Center for Medical Readiness, also known as Calamityville. New instrumentation being supplied by Cubic will enhance the ability to track personnel and vehicles during live training and mission rehearsal exercises. The instrumentation will also provide an improved common operating picture and planning tools during disaster response, first responder, special operations and law enforcement SWAT team training and mission rehearsal activities at the facility.
Cubic is providing the new instrumentation in collaboration with the Alliance for Human Effectiveness and Advancement (AHEAD), an industry consortium led by the Wright State Research Institute. AHEAD’s mission is to harness the power of technology and collaboration to unleash human performance and build greater capability, efficiency, health and safety in operations.

“Cubic is also involved with a visionary initiative led by the Air Force Research Laboratory to advance the art of live, virtual and computer-based constructive (LVC) training integration. Cubic was recently named the lead systems architect for a pilot project that will explore using LVC training for fifth-generation aircraft,” Feldmann added.
“Cubic previously took part in an Air Force Research Laboratory effort to miniaturize data link technology. Data link systems are used to transfer data and full motion video from unmanned vehicles to air, ground and surface ship terminals. Cubic’s Multiband Miniature Transceiver evolved from the company’s participation in an Air Force Research Laboratory miniaturization initiative. The company will work with Wright Patterson Air Force Base program offices to explore new ways to improve data links over the next few years.”
Cubic’s new Ohio office is co-located with the Wright State Research Institute at 4035 Glenn Highway in Beavercreek. John “Jazz” Jannazo, Cubic Senior Director for Air Force Programs, will oversee the office with Timothy Patton, Ph.D., and Chris Evans providing program management and engineering for the new enterprise.
