SAN DIEGO, Calif. – February 2, 2012 – The Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) Board of Directors has unanimously selected James R. Edwards as the company’s new Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, effective January 31, 2012. Edwards had previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of the company’s Transportation Group, and assistant general counsel and assistant secretary of Cubic Corporation. Edwards replaces William Hoese, who is retiring.
As general counsel, Edwards will focus on U.S. and international business transactions, including acquisitions, management of intellectual property, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings and regulatory compliance in the countries where Cubic conducts its diverse business.
Edwards joined Cubic in February 2008. Prior to coming to Cubic, he served as senior vice president and general counsel of Kratos Defense, and senior legal counsel for Qualcomm Incorporated. Before joining Qualcomm, he held general counsel positions at Wireless Knowledge, Inc., a Qualcomm subsidiary; Vapotronics, Inc., a developer of medical device technologies; General Atomics, an energy and defense contractor; and Logicon, Inc., a defense contractor.

Edwards is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate, and of Colorado State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, cum laude. He helped found the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and has held leadership positions on the San Diego and national ACC boards.
