SAN DIEGO – May 11, 2020 – Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) today announced it was accepted as a signatory of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate responsibility initiative with over 9,500 business and non-business participants in 135 countries. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact guides and supports the global business community in advancing UN goals and values through responsible corporate practices. By bringing committed companies together with relevant experts and stakeholders, the UN Global Compact provides a collaborative space to generate and implement advanced corporate sustainability practice.
“We are very pleased to join the leading global sustainability community to further our commitment to corporate responsibility,” said Bradley H. Feldmann, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Cubic Corporation. “We look forward to aligning the UN Global Compact’s principles across our organization and leveraging our technology-driven, marketing leading position to take action for a more sustainable future.”
Under the UN Global Compact, companies work together with UN agencies, employee groups and communities to lead a new era of sustainability. Its framework focuses on ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.
“We strive to always be good global corporate citizens,” said Richard Aceves, senior director of corporate responsibility, Cubic Corporation. “Being part of the UN Global Compact also signifies to our employees, shareholders and customers that we are dedicated to driving change across all areas of corporate responsibility.”
As part of Cubic’s commitment to the UN Global Compact, the company will introduce its corporate responsibility initiatives through a formalized closed-loop system, called the Cubic Innovation Social System (CISS). CISS will allow employees to rapidly transform ideas into user-centric solutions and services that create value for society in five key areas: environment, social capital, human capital, supply chain and corporate governance.
