Cubic Transportation Systems president recognized for contributions to the transportation industry

SAN DIEGO – September 7, 2016 – Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) today announced that Matt Cole, its senior vice president and president of Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) business unit, was recognized by Mass Transit magazine as one of its Top 40 Under 40 honorees. The eighth annual Mass Transit Top 40 Under 40 list honors those professionals under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions to the public transit industry. Mass Transit is a recognized magazine exclusively dedicated to public transportation.

“Millions of people utilize public transportation every year, relying on it to transport them to work, school, social and sporting activities,” said Emily Guill, publisher of Mass Transit. “The individuals chosen for this year’s list have been standouts in their respective areas and show a strong passion and commitment that exemplifies the best of the best.”

Cole has been instrumental in growing the CTS business across three continents and entering adjacent transportation markets to build on the company’s core business of fare collection for public transit. Cubic also provides payment and information solutions for tolling, real-time passenger information, traffic management, safety enforcement and specialization in big data and predictive analytics.

“Throughout his tenure at Cubic, Matt has continuously led by example, ensuring that customer relationships are treated with importance for achieving their objectives as much as protecting the company’s bottom line,” said Bradley H. Feldmann, president and chief executive officer, Cubic Corporation. “The growth footprint of NextCity, CTS’s principal strategy for which Matt has been the chief architect since inception in 2011, is now at the forefront of the smart city movement where transportation plays a key, if not leading, role in the industry."

After joining Cubic in 2003, Cole filled various roles across CTS’s major business regions including European head of finance; vice president of worldwide financial operations; managing director of Cubic Asia Pacific; senior vice president, worldwide strategy and business development; and most recently deputy and executive vice president, worldwide strategy and business development.

In addition, Cole was recently named one of the top ten private sector disruptors in transportation by the Eno Center for Transportation, a Washington, D.C. think tank that promotes policy innovation for transportation.

The 40-Under-40 honorees were nominated by their peers and judged on criteria that included job commitment, industry involvement and contribution, achievement in his or her position and innovation in his or her field. Winners, including Cole, will be showcased in the September/October cover feature of Mass Transit magazine and online at www.masstransitmag.com.
