Cubic Transportation Systems to support organization with development of world-leading intelligent transportation technologies
SAN DIEGO – Sept. 12, 2017 – Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), a business unit of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB), today announced the appointment of Dirk Van de Meerssche, sales and marketing director of intelligent transport systems and tolling for CTS-Asia Pacific, to the board of directors at iMOVE Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) in Australia. The iMOVE CRC aims to reduce the growing pressure on Australia’s transport systems by developing future technologies for smart transportation and mobility.
“I’m honored to be a member of the iMOVE CRC board of directors at such a critical time to address Australia’s future transportation infrastructure needs,” said Van de Meerssche. “I look forward to collaborating with my fellow distinguished industry leaders to develop world-leading intelligent transportation technologies.”
Cubic is one of 45 institutions, organizations, government departments and businesses partnering with iMOVE Australia to create the iMOVE CRC. The iMOVE CRC’s ambitious 10-year program recently won the support of the Australian government with a AUD $55 million grant to help spearhead the development of intelligent transport systems, including autonomous vehicles.
“We are pleased to welcome Dirk to the iMOVE CRC board. His depth of knowledge and in particular, his international experience and passion for transport and technology will bring important dimensions to an already diverse group of directors,” said Ian Murray AM, chair, iMOVE CRC.
Van de Meerssche noted the program would not only contribute to the optimization of the movement of people and goods throughout Australia, but also help the nation establish its reputation as a world leader in multi-modal transport management.
