Cubic Defense New Zealand and Cubic Defense Australia continue to be top performers in the regional defense industry

SAN DIEGO – Jan. 29, 2019 – Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) today announced that its Australia and New Zealand operations of its Cubic Global Defense business division was recgonized by Australian Defense Magazine in the top five for the 2019 Defense Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) and ranked 35th overall among the Top 40 Australia/New Zealand Defense Contractors.

The rankings, released in January each year by Australian Defense Magazine, recognize contractors with the highest revenue derived from the Australian defense industry.

General Manager Cubic Defense Australia Miles Macdonald said Cubic was pleased to make both the Top 40 and Top 20 SME lists.

“Cubic is committed to growing its local workforce and technical capabilities in the Australian Defense Market,” said Macdonald. “Pleasingly, our local teams are now leading in a number of areas of Training Solution development; with Australian and New Zealand staff expertise in demand to support global programs”.

Cubic’s submission was based on its combined Australian/New Zealand revenue for the 2018 year, since both countries contribute to Australian industry capability.

Australian Defense Magazine editor Katherine Ziesing said the rankings provide a snapshot of the defense industry in terms of turnover, workforce, Australian industry capability, research and development, and exports.

“The total turnover for the 2017 list of $10.2 billion was outshone by this year’s $12.7 billion figure, a truly impressive 24 percent jump in growth,” she wrote in the December/January magazine.
