SAN DIEGO, Calif. – July 11, 2012 - Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), has appointed a new chief operating officer and a new vice president, human resources.

Dave Schmitz, has been named for the newly created position of chief operating officer. Schmitz will be responsible for all facets of CDA’s worldwide operations, engineering and product line day-to-day performance, and will directly support business development initiatives. He will report to CDA President Brad Feldmann. He was formerly the vice president and general manager of Cobham Sensor System’s microwave business.

Schmitz has more than 20 years defense electronics industry experience in radar, electronic warfare and missile and space domains involving F-35, F-16, B-2, F/A-18 aircraft and several missile programs. He has a Master of Science degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mechanics from Harvard University.

Donald Haring has been named CDA’s vice president, human resources, replacing John Schierer, who was named corporate vice president of human resources.

Haring has had significant human resources experience during his career. He most recently served as vice president for corporate human resources at Thomas & Betts, a major multinational electrical products firm.

Haring has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and a Master of Arts in psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. He is certified human resources professional and a member of the Society for Human Resources.
