COLUMBUS, Georgia – March 6, 2012 - The Mission Support Services segment of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) has won two contracts to develop distance-learning courses for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).
Located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, AFIT is the Air Force’s graduate School of Systems and Engineering as well as its institution for technical professional continuing education. Cubic Applications, Inc.’s Omega Training and Education Division, based in Columbus, Georgia, will perform the work for the institute.
Under one six-month contract, Cubic will develop an eight-hour web-based Construction Cost Estimating course for the institute’s Civil Engineering School. The course will provide instruction for creating detailed price estimates for a variety of construction projects.
“It could be for building anything from a parking lot to building a health care facility, a daycare center or an instructional facility,” said Don Craig, Senior Project Lead with CAI.
Under the eight-month second contract, Cubic will use subject matter experts to develop an eight-hour Project Life Cycle course that will be used throughout the Air Force. The generic course will be designed to familiarize those taking it with the product life cycle process, which involves collecting detailed information about the various parts of aircraft or weapons systems so it can be used for maintenance, repair and replacement work.
