Cubic Sponsored Programs and Initiatives Empowers Students to Pursue Careers and Education in STEM
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Aug. 13, 2014 –Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) announced today it has donated more than $85,000 worth of support to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) educational initiatives and job training programs in Seminole and Orange counties in Orland, Fla. Support provided includes monetary donations, internship placement, student training and mentorship and Cubic employees’ participation in activities that further STEM initiatives . With five months remaining in the year and a new school term slated to commence, Cubic will extend its goal to $100,000 before the end of 2014.
Cubic awarded a grant to a Full Sail University student in the Game Art program in April 2014. Full Sail University is an award-winning private educational leader for those pursuing careers in the entertainment and media industry. A second scholarship is scheduled to be awarded in December to another deserving student enrolled in the Game Design program.
Additionally, Cubic also donated to Crooms Academy of Information Technology. Crooms Academy of Information Technology is a progressive charter school located in Sanford, Fla. that offers courses that are on the leading edge of information technology. With the donation, Cubic sponsored TechFest, a major fundraising event that gives students the opportunity to meet local companies and learn about its capabilities.
The Timber Creek High School robotics team, which also received a donation, is comprised of Project Lead the Way engineering students. The mission of the club is to spark student interest in STEM fields by using robotics as the catalyst. With Cubic’s donation, the club was able to participate in the VEX Robotics World Championship in Anaheim, Calif.
Cubic’s ongoing commitment to STEM education includes the Cubic Intern Workshop Series, which offers high school students career training, mentoring and product demos from employees and outside consultants. Additionally, Cubic actively recruits interns as part of the Young Entrepreneur and Scholar (YES) program whose goal is to prepare academically talented students to enter the workforce or continue on to advanced studies in their field, following the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a STEM field.

Currently, Cubic’s Orlando office employs 40 interns at both the high school and college level.
