The holiday season offers a perfect opportunity to get into the giving spirit – something Cubic is dedicated to. Since its founding in 1951, Cubic has helped make a b,difference in various local communities by supporting a wide range of nonprofit organizations whose purpose and values are aligned with its interests and employees. Corporate social responsibility has and always will be built into the foundation of Cubic’s culture.

In the spirit of giving, here are a few examples where Cubic made a difference in 2016:

North America:

tyjSan Diego, California – A number of Cubic offices participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program, including Cubic Corporation and Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), Cubic Global Defense (CGD) and Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS), headquartered in San Diego, California. Toys for Tots provides toys for underprivileged children whose parents cannot afford to buy gifts at Christmas.

Concord, California – CTS employees delivered gifts and purchased grocery cards for five families at Contra Costa Interfaith Housing, a local housing assistance program to support homeless and at-risk families/individuals in Contra Costa County. Employees collected groceries to help new families who will move into the housing development in 2017.

Kansas City, Missouri – CGD in Leavenworth, Kansas City donated necessary winter clothing items to Anthony Elementary School located in the Leavenworth Unified School District. Employees collected and decorated a Christmas tree in Cubic’s office with hats, gloves and scarves to help children at the elementary school keep warm during the cold winter weather.cgn

Orlando, Florida – CGD held a food drive benefitting University of Central Florida (UCF)Knights Helping Knights Pantry, an initiative that provides UCF students in need with basic necessities including food, clothing and personal hygiene items to foster continued academic success.

Virginia/Washington D.C. – Cubic sponsored the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Greater Washington Heart Walk at the Washington D.C. National Mall in November. AHA is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to raise funds and save lives from heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. Cubic Abraxas, DTECH, TeraLogics and the Kingstowne offices raised funds and supported 21 Cubes and their families for the walk! yjAHA’s Heart Walk raised an astonishing amount totaling more than $2.1 million.

At the Ashburn, Virginia facility, many generous Cubic employees donated to both Toys for Tots and a local LINK food pantry, which is a nonprofit organization comprised of dedicated churches, organizations and individuals serving the Herndon, Sterling and Ashburn, Virginia communities. LINK provides emergency food and financial assistance to people in need. Cubic collected more than 110 cans of food and 35 miscellaneous non-perishable food items for LINK along with a number of toys for Toys for Tots.

United Kingdom:

Shackleford – CMS’ Vocality International participated in a charity called, Help for Heroes, a nonprofit organization that provides support and raises funds for injured servicemen and women through field hockey. In 2015, the organization’s field hockey team toured the U.K. for 10 days and raised more than £32,000. The organization, which only had an all-male field hockey team to raise funds for the charity, will be holding its first trial for an all-women’s team this holiday season. The dhorganization has a goal to raise more than £50,000 for the 2017 tour.

New Zealand:

wAuckland – Cubic Defence New Zealand (CDNZ) supported the Auckland City Mission, an organization that provides specialized health and social services to struggling individuals and families. CDNZ helped the organization by collecting gifts, non-perishable food and monetary funds.

Throughout 2016, CDNZ participated in a number of community events, including donating 82 pairs of pajamas for Middlemore Foundation’s Jammies in June fundraiser for needy kids at Middlemore’s Kidz First Hospital; raising monetary funds through a homemade cupcake sale on Cupcake Day for SPCA New Zealand, a charity that helps fight animal cruelty; and being recognized as a top donor for New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink for a Day campaign, by delivering one of the highest donations from staff wearing pink.

Australia:

gSydney/Brisbane – CTS Australia offices in Sydney and Brisbane supported the Movember Foundation, a global organization that raises funds for men’s health by encouraging people to grow moustaches (also known as Mo growers!) for the month of November. Collectively, CTS Australia contributed more than $5,500. At end of the month, Mo growers entered Cubic’s “Moscars,” where staff voted for the best (and worst) moustaches, followed by a mass shave-off.

Cubic understands that one of the best ways to give back is by giving employees the opportunity to lend a hand to individuals in need. We are proud to contribute to numerous organizations worldwide and know that taking part in social good not only does good for our soul, but also helps make a difference in the lives of others.

This holiday season, Cubic encourages everyone to step out and aid a favorite local charity and spread the gift of giving and joy. Happy Holidays and a happy and prosperous new year!
