Every summer Cubic gets an influx of interns who receive valuable experience in helping shape their career path. During their time at Cubic, the HR team organized the Intern Experience – a session in which Cubic’s key executives, including president and CEO Brad Feldmann, sat down for a Q&A session to share their backgrounds and offer tips on career development. In addition to Feldmann, other executives who participated in the event included Matt Newsome, general manager of Americas, CTS and Rasheed Behrooznia, VP of engineering, CTS.

Some of the lessons Cubic’s executives shared their personal internship experiences, provided lessons learned and answered a variety of questions related to their career development. Below are some of their tips:

  • Have fun at what you do because you will generally perform better if you enjoy the work you’re doing. - Feldmannh
  • None of us have all the keen insights and gifts, but it helps to work in groups to bridge the gap in the areas we are short-suited in. - Feldmann
  • Take advantage of the opportunities the company has to offer, such as innovating new ideas through Ideaspark. - Newsome
  • Learn other parts that tie into their current jobs and know how to communicate effectively with a team. - Newsome
  • Make an effort to get as much exposure as you can from the internship experience to help decide if this is the right career path. - Behrooznia

Current employees, who were once Cubic interns, also volunteered their time to take partin the Intern Experience as panelists to share their stories and answer questions. The panelists from CGD and CTS commended Cubic for its dynamic culture and encouraged interns to step out of their comfort zone and meet new people. Lastly, the group of panelists concluded the event with this advice: interns can go far in their careers with passion and effective communication.
