Innovating for Success
We begin by listening to our customers and gaining a comprehensive understanding of their needs and perspective, and then empowering our people to find the most efficient and effective ways at accomplishing our customers’ goals. In some cases, the answers are straightforward, while in other cases, they are far less so.
Growth is predicated on taking developed ideas and applying them in new situations, often creatively and while taking risks—that is an approach that we’ve always encouraged and embraced.
That’s Cubic, innovating for success.
Cubic Innovation Social System (CISS) Platforms and Processes for Solving Unique Customer Problems
IdeaSpark
IdeaSpark provides the ideal, highly collaborative environment for the Cubic community to connect with internal technology teams and experts across Cubic locations worldwide. IdeaSpark is a full-service idea & innovation management platform that allows employees to work together to create new products and services. Furthermore, IdeaSpark is an avenue for employees to provide solutions to customers’ needs, problems, and challenges.
Bounties
A Bounty is a feature within IdeaSpark where Cubic stakeholders can request the help of the Cubic-wide community for a solution to a specific problem. It can be anything that helps find innovative solutions for a customer or product; the winning proposed solution receives a monetary reward.
Using a top-down, problem-based innovative workflow, the goal is to post Bounties to solve problems for Business Units’ products and services, or to support upcoming proposals.
Events
Hackathons
Cubic Innovation regularly hosts Hackathons all over the world where employees meet and work to find new solutions and solve customer challenges, the winner(s) at each hackathon receiving a prize. Hackathons are typically 24-72 hour events in which participants organize into small teams to develop and present solutions to a distinct business problem.
Product72
Product72 is a Hackathon that is super-charged with business development and marketing elements. Teams will produce a product prototype and a business pitch. The grading rubric is different from a Hackathon.
Innovation Sprint
Sprints are initiated by a product owner (the person requesting the work) to request surge support by Cubic developers to complete specified tasks within a set period of time to support rapid development and/or rapid experimentation.
