Dear Valued Partners,
At Cubic, we believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
Everyone should feel safe and be afforded their unalienable rights of liberty and justice. Yet, to our great sadness, the violence and killings of Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and others before them – known and unknown – are tragic reminders of the injustice and discrimination that continue to threaten the Black community here in the United States and people of color globally.
It is our responsibility to take a deliberate stand against racism. The world’s recent call for social justice has provided an opportunity for us to come together in this critical moment. Cubic is determined to be a part of the change we want to see in the world. We are committed to justice and the fair treatment of all people.
There is no simple solution to systemic, institutional racism. However, I do believe that Cubic’s Purpose – our teams innovate to make a positive difference in people’s lives – drives us to act in support of racial equity:
- Making Monetary Donations for Racial Justice. Cubic stands united in the fight for racial justice. Cubic has provided a monetary donation to NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund in support of their mission to fight for racial justice through litigation, advocacy and public education. In addition, we started a GoFundMe campaign for our employees to support this non-profit.
- Providing Toolkits for Leaders. Silence is a form of tolerance. To encourage open dialogue and conversations, we are providing toolkits and Frequently Asked Questions guides to managers.
- Ensuring our Teams are Safe. We need to ensure the safety of all our employees. We offer flexible working conditions and encourage our employees to work from home in times of crisis and if they feel unsafe outside of Cubic.
- Launching a Global Inclusion Course. We all have unconscious biases. To identify and mitigate our biases and blind spots, we are deploying unconscious bias training to all employees.
- Listening and Taking Advice. We need to educate ourselves on the challenges the Black community faces. Our Maana Employee Resource Group sponsors virtual events, Sharing in the Safe Room, that facilitate open dialogue to discuss recent events, share stories and discuss potential actions our Cubic community can take to be better allies, leaders, coworkers, friends and humans.
I recognize that these small steps may not be enough, but they are immediate actions we are taking. We are on a journey of change and ask for your support as we listen, learn and improve together. As Cubic’s CEO, I am especially responsible for recognizing our blind spots and leading change within the Cubic family. I am committed to ensuring all of our team members, leaders, customers and partners are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
Thank you,
Bradley H. Feldmann
