Can you tell us about your career journey thus far?
I started at Cubic 19 years ago as an Intern in Electrical Engineering. Then I transitioned into a Manufacturing Account Manager role and I’m now a Production Manager. I was able to work for the past 9 years supporting our Manufacturing Plant in Mexico which has given me increased customer focus and a new perspective on the importance of design to cost.
Why does diversity matter?
Having a diverse workforce is important because it promotes innovation. Combined with a safe work environment, it creates the opportunity for career growth for underrepresented groups.
What have you found most rewarding so far?
Being able to work with amazing people who become a part of your family. CUBES have a “can” attitude, they are very supportive and know that a “Thank You” can achieve miracles.
What advice would you give young professionals?
Be accountable for your work and volunteer to do tasks outside of your comfort zone. Find a mentor who inspires you and develop a three, five and ten-year career plan.
Why is Latinx Heritage month important to you?
It’s important because we can celebrate our contributions to society as Hispanics/Latinx and embrace our differences. At the same time, we become aware of the importance to honor and respect all cultures.
