At the end of January, we celebrated the opening of the new office in Hyderabad to accommodate our growing workforce in India. The event was a celebration of the team at the heart of our operations who have made a difference to cities across the globe.
Cubic Transportation Systems’ India office initially opened in 2009, consisting of just 11 engineers. Now, it's home to more than 350 colleagues, with roles spanning technical delivery, design, development, support and testing and jobs. From entry-level to senior architects, Hyderabad is now a centre of engineering excellence, making an impact on cities all over the world.
And this growth looks set to continue. With aggressive recruitment and expansion plans for the coming years, we are actively seeking to onboard 100 new colleagues over the coming months, including 60 new engineers.
Better-Connected Public Infrastructure in India
Public transportation is a critical component of efficient urban transportation systems, and there is an immediate need for better-connected public infrastructure in India. Home to 18% of the world's population, India’s cities face road congestion, air pollution, and safety concerns and there is a fundamental shift towards developing Smart City initiatives to improve citizen well-being. Cubic’s Hyderabad team has been one of the key contributors to the success of major projects that have been deployed worldwide and Cubic is committed to expanding this focus and deploying its global expertise to much-needed development at home.
All this wouldn’t be possible without the people leading the way. The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated those responsible for the growth and success of the business: Kirshan Kamojhala, Managing Director for India was awarded a 20-year service award and Jyothi Thedlapu, Office Administrator, was presented with an appreciation award.
Celebrations & Attendance
Two members of our global executive team, President Jeffrey Lowinger and SVP of Engineering, Galen Chui, attended the ceremony to join in the celebrations and discuss future plans with the team. The official opening was followed by an employee appreciation event to celebrate everyone’s hard work.
Galen Chui, SVP of Engineering, said: “Cubic India engineering teams have come a long way in becoming an integral part of our global engineering strength. I continue to be impressed with both their skills and enthusiasm. I am looking forward to our teams in Hyderabad continuing their growth story and helping us along our journey of becoming a world-class engineering organisation”.
Kishan Kamojjhala, Managing Director India, said: ”I believe this growth is only made possible because of my team’s talent and hard work. I am very proud of this moment.”
